Lotus Pond - Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, India - Photos

Hidden in the concrete jungles of Banjara Hills there is a very beautiful place called the Lotus Pond. Developed jointly by the HUDA and the Builder's Association, this place is a veritable paradise in the middle of the busy city.

The Lotus Pond is a beautiful place with a nice "walkway" around a pond. Nice landscaping and lush green lawns add to the attraction. The park is filled with greenery - plants and trees cover the walkway and the pond itself is filled with fish. You can almost put in your hand and catch millions of them!

Lotus Pond is home to more than 20 species of birds. A few of them are Pied Kingfisher, White Wagtail, Common Moorhen, Little Grebe, sunbirds, Common Coot, and Little Egret. The pond is maintained by the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad(MCH).

The pond was believed to be an eco-preservation project contributing natural components into the concept of this project without troubling the ecosystem and preserving the natural rocks and the pond. The construction of the project was launched on 20 November, 1999. The project was finished in the year 2001.

The pond is home to a good number of species of birds the scientific names of which I am unaware of. I am a man who enjoys simple things of life without needing to complicate them. Anything with wings is a "bird" to me. Onward. Some species of migratory birds also seem to find this place very homely and land here in good numbers during the not so hot winters of Hyderabad. The only bird I can be dead sure of is a very wise and sage-like Kingfisher which sits on the same pole everyday and keeps brooding mysteriously and all the others are just "ducks" or "some birds".

This park+pond is a very good example of a self-sustainable ecosystem with little need for human intervention. The aquatic fowl (nice and technical eh?) feed on the teeming multitude of fish and the fish in turn feed on the underwater plants and lotus leaves and so on down the food chain. You can find a few thatched huts with wooden benches loosely scattered inside the park for the weary-of-leg and the lazy-to-walk.

This place is chock full of "subjects" and would make any photography enthusiast go frothing at the mouth (at least I did). There are great opportunities for wide angle landscapes, tiny macros, good sunset/sunrise reflections, birds on wing shots etc.

Visiting hours:
All days- 06.00 to 10.00 Hours, 16.00 to 20.00 Hours

Below are my photography snaps at Lotus Pond:Last Saturday(23/7/2011), I have visited Lotus Pond.

How Often Should You Eat To Lose Weight

How Often Should You Eat To Lose Weight

Do you have any issues with regards to food that you should eat? Do you have eating imbalance problem? Trying to lose weight but don't know when to eat and what to eat right? If you have these questions in your mind, then this is the perfect article that you should read.

How often should you eat to lose weight?
In losing weight, the most important thing that you should remember is that "take less, burn more". What does this mean? It means that, you need to take less amount of calories, and burn more calories during workout. For your additional info, calories are the one's we use as an energy, which we acquire from the foods that we eat. We have different types of foods. And these foods have different amount of calories compared to other foods. In addition, if you take foods which has a high amount of fats and sugar, you also consumes more calories. Thus, if you are going to consume more calories than you body uses, those extra calories will then be stored in your body as an excess fats. So, at the end of the day, you are gaining more weight instead of losing.

Study shows that 3,500calories is equal to 1lbs of fat. Now, if we do some calculations, if you want to lose 1lbs of fat a week, you need to take or consume at least 3,500calories lesser which means, 500 calories fewer per day, or, you need to burn 3,500calories through exercising, if you want to lose 1lbs of weight.

If you are busy with your work, and only have limited time for exercises, you need to take lesser foods with less calories and be active all the time. To be able to burn more calories than what you take in a day. You can also go to the gym if you want to burn more calories, and lose weight fast. If are having a hard time going in to your nearest gym for workout sessions, you can do some best at home exercises that you can see on this site. You don't need to have all the gym equipments to be able to lose weight. If you do these exercises consecutively, you will lose weight in a short period of time.

How Often Should You Eat:
Eating at least 3 times a day with a single snack is what we do most often. This is what we do in a regular basis. The 3 meals would have the same amount of food per serving, while the snack would a bit smaller compared to the meals. You can still do even if you are trying to lose weight. Instead of eating huge amount of food during meals, you can lessen the amount of food you take each meal. This means that your calorie intake would also decrease. You can remove the snack in between meals, or if it is really needed, or you are hungry, you can still eat your snack but you need to take note on the calorie content of the food you consume. Remember, you need to take at least 500 calorie or lower for you to lose weight without going to the gym.

You can also eat at least 5-6 times a day. But this will depend on the food you take. Let's say for example you want to eat every 2 hours or 3 hours, you need to eat something that is very low in fat(non-fat yugart and banana). After 3 hours, you decided to eat again another meal which includes sandwich and fat free mayonnaise. This are just examples of the food the you need to take, if you decided to eat at least 5-6 meals a day.

Important Note: You need to eat breakfast, this is the most important meal of the day. You should not skip this meal. Even though you will lose weight if you skip your meal, this will bring you no good in long run, since you might feel very hungry and consume more food on you next meal. Thus, you need not to skip any of the meal. If you want to lose weight fast then, you should try combining this simple tips with all the Best At Home Exercises and How To Lose Weight Fast articles in this site if you want to get great results.

Sachin Tendulkar closer to get Bharat Ratna?

Sachin Tendulkar during the first Test Match(July - 2011) against England at Lord's in London

Sachin Tendulkar is a step closer to getting India's top award. Home ministry has recommended sports be made a category for Bharat Ratna consideration, as told to Time Now.

The home ministry has written to the Prime Minister's Office to include sports as a category in Bharat Ratna. The recommendation will pave way for cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar to be awarded India's highest civilian award.

If awarded, Sachin will become the country's first sportsperson to bag  Bharat Ratna and the clamour has specially grown especially after Sachin helped India lift the World Cup earlier this year.

Tendulkar deserves to get Bharat Ratna, says Deshmukh

Newly-elected president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, Vilasrao Deshmukh, on Friday said that Sachin Tendulkar deserved to get Bharat Ratna and no one would object if the champion cricketer got the country's highest civilian award.

"Sachin deserves Bharat Ratna. Being the president of Mumbai Cricket Association, I would talk to the sports minister, home minister and Prime Minister and request them to change the norms for the award to include sportspersons too in its category of recipients," Deshmukh said.

Deshmukh chaired the first managing committee meeting of the MCA after his election to the president's post at the biennial polls of the association held on July 15. The former Maharashtra CM had vanquished former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar comfortably in a straight contest to succeed another politician, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, as the MCA president.
